How to Check if Mint Authority Is Revoked on Solscan

Two passes on a Solscan token page: the mint, freeze and update authority fields, then the Token-2022 extensions a 'mint revoked' badge does not cover.

To check if mint authority is revoked on Solscan, open the token’s mint address, find the authority fields on the token page, and read the mint authority entry: an empty or null value means no address can mint new supply. Then check which token program owns the mint, because Token-2022 mints carry extensions the badge does not cover.

This is an evergreen instrument piece, not a news item. This desk read the SPL Token-2022 extension guide, Helius’s Orb explorer documentation and Solana’s SPL Token basics on 19 September 2026.

What “mint authority revoked” actually certifies

Among the fields set when a mint account is created are the decimals, a mint authority and a freeze authority, per Solana’s SPL Token basics. The mint authority is the address allowed to mint new units into a token account; the same page lists SetAuthority as the instruction that changes or revokes authority roles.

Helius’s Orb documentation puts the consequence plainly: if the authority is set to null, the mint authority will be permanently revoked. That is the whole of what the badge certifies. Supply can go down, through the burns this desk covered in How to Verify a Token Burn on Solscan, but it cannot go up.

Pass one: how to check if mint authority is revoked on Solscan

Paste the mint address, not a wallet, into Solscan’s search and open the token page. As of this writing it carries a block of authority fields; this desk did not read Solscan’s own field-label documentation, so the fields are described here generically, not by label. Three matter.

Mint authority

An address means someone can add supply. An empty or null value means nobody can; the field is the fact, and any badge a screener draws from it is a summary.

Freeze authority

The second field answers the runner-up question, how to check if freeze authority is revoked on a Solana token. Solana’s docs describe the freeze instruction as blocking transfers, burns and delegate changes on a token account, with thaw reversing it.

Update authority

The third is metadata. Per Helius, the update authority lets its holder change a token’s name, symbol and logo, and explorers surface it as a mutable true or false flag.

Pass two: the Token-2022 levers the badge does not cover

Every Solana token belongs to one of two programs, the original Token Program or Token-2022, whose program ID is TokenzQdBNbLqP5VEhdkAS6EPFLC1PHnBqCXEpPxuEb in the SPL guide’s own examples. The token page shows the owning program. If it is Token-2022, the mint can carry extensions, and the SPL Token-2022 extension guide describes what each one lets a holder do.

ExtensionWhat the SPL guide says it doesWhy a revoked mint badge does not cover it
Permanent delegateAn authority with unlimited delegate privileges over any account for that mint, able to burn or transfer any amount of tokens; it may always act, bypassing CPI GuardSupply is fixed, but any balance can be moved or burned by the delegate
Transfer feeOn every transfer some amount is withheld on the recipient account, untouchable by the recipient; a withdraw withheld authority can move those tokensThe guide’s example: 50 basis points takes 5 tokens from a 1,000-token transfer, with a maximum fee capping it
Default account stateCan force all new token accounts to be frozen, so users must interact with some service to unfreezeNew holders start frozen until a service unfreezes them, and only the freeze authority can change that default; the mint badge does not show it
PausableWhen the paused flag is flipped the program aborts all transfers, mints and burnsA stop button that sits beside, not inside, the mint authority
Transfer hookA program set at creation runs on transfers; the guide notes it is not called during self-transfersArbitrary logic on every transfer, invisible in the authority fields
Mint close authorityLets a valid authority close the mint account and reclaim its lamports, once supply is zeroA closable mint is not the same object as an immutable one
Non-transferableTokens cannot be moved; the owner may burn and close the accountThe opposite failure: fixed supply that cannot leave your wallet

The table carries seven of the levers this desk read on that page; “permissioned burn”, a phrase that circulates in screener copy, is also documented there as an extension whose burn authority the CLI defaults to the mint authority, and it is not in the table.

The guide’s own justification for the strongest lever is instructive: a permanent delegate exists so that, in some jurisdictions, a stablecoin issuer can seize assets from sanctioned entities. On a memecoin whose only claim is that nobody can touch your bag, it is a field worth reading twice.

Is mint authority revoked on Pump.fun tokens?

Per Helius’s documentation, launchpads such as Pump.fun and LetsBonk handle the mint authority configuration and set it to null in both cases, and revoking the update authority is the default for new Pump.fun tokens. The volume those launchpads move, covered in A Record Fee Week, and an Unlock Three Days Later, is why the revoked badge became a default rather than a distinction, and why risk scores like the one read in Bubblemaps Against RugCheck have to look past it.

Questions readers ask

What does mint authority revoked mean? It means the mint account’s mint authority field holds no address, so no key can call the instruction that creates new units of the token. Supply can still fall through burns, but it cannot rise. Per Helius’s documentation, setting the authority to null makes the revocation permanent. The badge says nothing about freeze authority, metadata or Token-2022 extensions.

Is mint authority revoked on Pump.fun tokens? Per Helius’s Orb documentation, read by this desk on 19 September 2026, tokens launched through Pump.fun and LetsBonk have the mint authority set to null by the launchpad, and revoking the update authority is the default for new Pump.fun tokens. This desk did not read Pump.fun’s own documentation, so the claim is Helius’s; the field on Solscan is the thing to check.

Can mint authority be re-enabled after it is revoked? Not according to the documentation this desk read. Helius’s explorer docs state that if the authority is set to null, the mint authority will be permanently revoked, and Solana’s SPL Token basics list SetAuthority as the instruction that changes or revokes authority roles. A null field has no holder left to sign a change.

What is the difference between mint authority and freeze authority? Mint authority governs supply: the address holding it can create new units. Freeze authority governs holders: Solana’s docs describe freezing a token account to block transfers, burns and delegate changes, and thawing it to resume them. Revoking one says nothing about the other.

The badge measures whether supply can grow; it cannot see a delegate, a fee, a pause or a frozen default sitting one tab over. This desk reads the fields because the fields are the ritual, and it does not hold the tokens. Memecoins are extremely high risk and frequently go to zero; nothing here is financial advice, and the only advice on offer is to read the second pass before you believe the first.
